This sequence is a film opening. It depicts a teenage girl (Bea), getting into a bath in her clothes. As she lowers her head under the water, scenes flash involving a young girl and a paper boat as well as that same little girl around the bath. She is having flashbacks about her younger sister (Rhani) who drowned when she was meant to be looking after her. The death of Rhani tore their family apart. Bea feels responsible and submerges herself as an act of self harm, to try and empathise with what Rhani went through, as Bea feels it should’ve been her who drowned.
